In response to the political climate, I have begun creating works relating to queer histories. The colorful pallet and decorations on these vessels pay homage to a community I have dubbed the lavender boys, referring to gay men who were mistreated in the late 1940’s, though lesbians and other LGBTQIA+ individuals were affected. This wave of discrimination lasted through the 1960’s and as power structures continue to develop in contemporary settings, works like these serve as reminders of our resilience. Each vessel has a message or reminder to help get us through another day.
